Ganesha is a revered god also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, Pillaiyar, and Binayak. The ten-day festival known as Ganesh Chaturthi is currently in full swing in India. Although we do not worship an idol, we keep a Ganapati in our home given he represents ideals we value as the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom.
On the most recent visit to Mumbai, we knew we would bring a statue back to place in our new home here in America. Also the remover of obstacles in the Hindu religion, I hope what he represents is part of your household as well …both in the east and the west.
